What is Ultrasound?

Ultrasound is the second most common diagnostic imaging test used in

healthcare (after X-Rays). It is also one of the safest tests, as it only uses

high-frequency sound waves to form an image of the structures being examined.

There are no known health risks from the sound waves used.

Which areas can you Scan?

Here at Prime Performance Physio, we provide a wide range of Ultrasound scans,

including:

Joints, Tendons, Muscles, Abdomen, Aorta, Uterus, Ovaries, Urinary Tract, Thyroid, Salivary Glands, Testes & Prostate.

Using Colour Doppler Ultrasound, we can also examine blood vessels, including the Carotid Arteries, Leg veins for Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) & much more.

We also offer an Ultrasound Health MOT package, which is very popular. It comprises of an Abdominal, Renal Tract & Carotid Artery scan health check, in a single 1-hour appointment.

Who is your Sonographer?

Spencer Laver is our highly experienced Sonographer who has spent over 28 years in Ultrasound. He has practised in many NHS hospitals and clinics around the country and has been Ultrasound Lead for several organisations. He also sits on Ultrasound advisory boards and provides clinical audit for other Ultrasound service providers.

What happens during my Scan?

Initially, some gel is placed on the skin over the area we are looking at, and an Ultrasound probe is then gently placed on top. By carefully moving the probe, the Sonographer can visualise the organs and tissue inside your body. The examination is usually completely pain-free, and tissue is provided after your scan to wipe off any remaining gel.

When do I receive my results?

You will be given an initial verbal report immediately following your scan. A written report will follow by email later the same day. We can also supply you with a complimentary copy of your images if required.

How much does it cost for a Scan?

All our scans at Prime Performance Physio cost £99, apart from the Ultrasound Health MOT, which is £250.
